ANN ARBOR — All one had to do was see Jim Harbaugh’s facial expressions and body language to know his opinion of Dan Enos’ one-month stint as a Michigan assistant.

Harbaugh’s eyes widened, his arms flailed, and his mouth was agape.

“You know exactly what transpired,” Harbaugh said when asked about Enos’ departure. “He left, and went to Alabama.”

Dan Enos was the receivers coach at Michigan less than a month before taking a spot on Nick Saban's coaching staff at Alabama.

The former Central Michigan head coach and Arkansas offensive coordinator served as Michigan’s wide receivers coach for less than a month before taking a position on Nick Saban’s staff at Alabama.

Michigan has welcomed several new assistants during the offseason, including Al Washington (linebackers, special teams) and Sherrone Moore (tight ends). Harbaugh also hired a new strength and conditioning coach, Ben Herbert.

“I’m thrilled with the new additions,” Harbaugh said. “Sherrone Moore, Al Washington, I think are fantastic. I’ve had the chance to go out on the road and be in meetings with both, and they’re tremendous.”

Harbaugh is taking his time on hiring Michigan’s 10th assistant coach, but he did confirm it will be an offensive-minded coach. There are reports that former Florida head coach Jim McElwain has interviewed with the Wolverines. UM has already hired two offensive analysts in former Ohio State offensive coordinator Ed Warinner and Tanner Engstrand, who came from the University of San Diego. Engstrand is considered one of the bright young minds in college football.

“On offense right now, we’re going through a self-scout period,” Harbaugh said. “We’re looking at ways to get our offense up to where our defense is.”
