Michigan leads nation in home football attendance
2/14/2018ANN ARBOR — For the third consecutive season, Michigan led the nation in home attendance.
The Wolverines averaged 111,589 fans during the team’s six games at Michigan Stadium. UM finished 5-2 at home, with losses to rivals Ohio State and Michigan State.
The Buckeyes, Penn State, Alabama, and Texas A&M made up the top five. Ohio State had the most attendance at all games — home, away, and neutral site. Michigan was sixth.
Michigan actually averaged a 1,121 per game increase at home this season compared to 2016.
As a whole, college football attendance decreased by 1,409 fans per game, the largest decline in 34 years.
In 2015, during the final season of the Brady Hoke era, Ohio State led the nation in home attendance, the first time Michigan wasn’t No. 1 in 40 years.
