BOWLING GREEN — Bowling Green State University has named Robyn Fralick as its new head women’s basketball coach, the school announced Tuesday.

BG will conduct a 2 p.m. news conference Wednesday at the Stroh Center to introduce Fralick, who will replace Jennifer Roos as head coach.

Fralick received a six-year contract from the school that will pay an annual salary of $231,000.

"We are absolutely thrilled to be able to announce coach Fralick as the next women's basketball head coach," Bowling Green athletics director Bob Moosbrugger said in a release. "Robyn is a tremendous coach, leader, and role model to young women.

“While her record and awards speak for themselves, what impressed me the most was the love for the game, teaching, and developing young women."

Fralick has spent the past 10 seasons at Division II Ashland University, including the past three as head coach. The Eagles were 104-3 in her three seasons in the top job, winning the national title in 2016-17 before losing in the title game this March.

"I am very thankful for the opportunity to be the Head Coach at Bowling Green State University," Fralick said. "I am keenly aware of the rich tradition of the women's basketball program and am honored to be leading this team.

“Bowling Green State University is a great mix of both academic and athletic excellence, and I am eager for my family to become a part of the community and to get started."

Last season Ashland posted a 36-1 record, losing only to Central Missouri in the Division II national title game. The year before the Eagles went 37-0, the first time a Division II team won that many games without a loss, and claimed the national title.

In Fralick’s first season at Ashland the Eagles went 31-2 and won the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular-season and tournament titles.

Fralick spent seven seasons as an assistant at Ashland before taking over as head coach. She spent three seasons as an assistant coach and four as associate head coach, and during those last four seasons the Eagles posted a 113-21 record.

Before serving as an assistant at Ashland, Fralick was an assistant at the University of Toledo during the 2007-08 season and also is familiar with the Mid-American Conference after spending two seasons as director of basketball operations at Western Michigan.

Fralick played her college basketball at Davidson, where she was recruited by Roos. When she left the Wildcats program, she was fourth in career assists, eighth in career steals, and 12th in career free-throw percentage.

Fralick is a 2004 graduate of Davidson, having earned her undergraduate degree in psychology with a minor in religion. She earned her master's degree in counselor education from Western Michigan in 2007.

Fralick and her husband, Tim, have a son, William, and a daughter, Clara. Tim has spent the past three seasons as a volunteer assistant coach on the AU staff.
