FINDLAY — A Fremont man was indicted Friday on a murder charge stemming from his estranged wife’s death.

Onelio Almeida, 58, is charged with murder and tampering with evidence in the June 25 shooting of Juanita Almeida, 44, of Findlay. The murder charge includes an additional specification that he was convicted of voluntary manslaughter for an offense in 1986 in Franklin County.

The victim was found on the ground in the 100 block of Stanford Parkway in Findlay. Police said they recovered the gun they believe was used.

Almeida remained in the Hancock County jail Friday in lieu of $1 million bond.
