One of three men charged in fatal Toledo shooting pleads guilty

He faces up to 22 years in prison

One of three men charged in the fatal shooting of a man outside a convenience store pleaded guilty today in Lucas County Common Pleas Court.

Demarcus Lawhorn, 25, of the 1000 block of Nebraska Avenue was then found guilty by Lucas County Common Pleas Judge James Bates of involuntary manslaughter with a firearm specification and felonious assault for the Sept. 9 slaying of George Smith, 24. He was shot to death in his car outside the 7-Eleven, 1101 Western Ave.

Lawhorn, who is being held in the Lucas County jail, faces up to 22 years in prison when he is sentenced May 23.

Co-defendant Davonte Nicholson, 21, of the 1000 block of Avondale Avenue currently is scheduled for trial March 28 on charges of aggravated murder and murder.

A third suspect, Alexander Williams, 31, of the 1800 block of Perth Street was arrested March 2 in Hopkins, S.C., on the same charges. He has not yet been extradited to Toledo.
