A University of Toledo scholar will give an Islamic studies lecture today.

Ovamir Anjum, the Imam Khattab Endowed Chair of Islamic Studies, will speak at 7 p.m. in the Driscoll Alumni Center auditorium on “Muslims in America: Where do we go from here?” for the university’s annual lecture on Islamic thought.

“Most American Muslims have no ‘back home’ to which they can go,” he wrote. “The majority of Muslims in America are American citizens.”

The lecture is free, but tickets should be reserved at cfru.eventbrite.com.

Also this week, the UT Muslim Students Association is marking Islam Awareness Week with daily events. Activities include a Muslim Writers Collective open mic night at 7 p.m. today at the Brady Engineering Innovation Center and a workshop on mental illness at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Thompson Student Union.
