The University of Toledo has been awarded the Christa McAuliffe Award for Excellence in Teacher Education from the American Association of State Colleges and Universities.

The national association of nearly 420 public colleges and universities selected UT for the award because of its NURTURES early childhood science program, which aims to improve the science readiness scores of preschool through third-grade students in the Toledo area.

It’s a partnership among UT, local daycare centers, Toledo Public Schools, and informal science centers. The program is supported with a $10 million grant from the National Science Foundation.
