On the second and fourth Sundays of each month toledoblade.com will feature a few classic Frogtown comic strips previously featured in our print edition.
This week’s edition of The Best of Frogtown features the first three appearances of Frogtown in The Blade.
The comic strip’s final installment was published on Sept. 20, 2015.
In February, 2009, Blade editorial cartoonist Kirk Walters launched Frogtown.
Frogtown is a slice-of-life cartoon about the little things in life. It features a down-on-his-luck father, Scooter McFlak, who recently lost his job, his marriage, and his home. Scooter decides to pack up his belongings and move with his son, Mikey, out of Miami and back to his hometown of Toledo to live with his father, Jack McFlak.
When Scooter and Mikey show up at Jack’s door life changes for everyone in funny and sometimes touching ways.
