Waniewski cares about city’s needs

5/20/2017

Are Toledoans weary of our town being the poster child for defining insanity (doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results)?

After about 35 years since our last Republican mayor, it’s time for Tom Waniewski to be mayor of Toledo.

During the period of extremely high winds a couple of months ago, a street lamp located near the corner of my property was nearly sheared into two pieces.

At a social gathering a few weeks later, I casually mentioned to Mr. Waniewski that I didn’t know whether to call the city or Toledo Edison.

Tom made a quick call from his cell phone, and within 36 hours, a Toledo Edison representative was at my door asking about the location and particulars of the downed light. About a week later, two crews came and replaced the street lamp.

Thank you to Councilman Tom Waniewski for initiating a quick response and resolution to a minor issue that was not even located within his district.

Good luck to him in his campaign for mayor.

Toledo roads don’t spotlight jewels

I consider myself a Toledoan. Other than my years away at college, I have always lived in the area.

Toledo has some wonderful things to be proud of on a national level — the art museum and the zoo are two institutions that immediately come to mind.

We all want the University of Toledo to be recognized everywhere as a strong symbol of what this area we call home has to offer. I know the university is working hard to improve its image.

However, I consider it a total lack of leadership to allow the main road to our university to be in the level of disrepair that it presently is. I shudder to think what visitors think when they see the obstacle course we call Bancroft. This is how we represent ourselves?

Maybe I’m in the minority, but I think the roads around our treasures should be at the top of the list for maintenance. What does it say about us if we don’t?

Come on, Toledo. Fix the darn roads.
