I thought that I could trust the U.S. Postal Service, but I was wrong. I sent a card and cash reward to my 11-year-old granddaughter for a great school year. Much to her and my disappointment there was nothing in the card when she received it. Someone at the post office thought they deserved her reward more than she did. I will no longer use snail mail as much as possible, I suggest no one else does either.
St. Anthony’s will be demolished eventually
St Anthony Church has been vacant for how many years (June 3, “Kaptur, Kapszukiewicz call on diocese to halt St. Anthony demolition”)?
Until last month, most Toledoans never even knew or cared about the church building. It has been boarded up with a fence around it to keep vagrants out. It was moth balled either because of low attendance, lack of priest, or rising expenses.
Now, politicians, fringe groups, and others want to rescue it. They are trying to find money to save the building. Undoubtedly, the money will come from a government agency. Can anyone even fathom the amount of money needed to fix the plumbing and electrical, and remove the lead paint so the site is cleared by government inspection for citizens to use.
At a later date, additional government funds will be needed to demolish the building. Why don’t we allow the current owners to bare the cost of demolishing the structure?
Let Catholic Diocese send the church to heaven.
