Slow Food Maumee Valley is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a potluck at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Toledo Botanical Garden, 5403 Elmer Drive.

The event is free and will involve a review of past successes, planning for the future, honoring outgoing chapter president Paula Ross, and sharing a delicious meal.

As a member of Slow Food USA, this local group is dedicated to “good, clean, and fair food for all” and supports local food producers, encourages eating seasonally and growing sustainably, and advocates for wider accessibility to healthful food.

Members and those interested in learning more are encouraged to come to the event.

Unmasking Mental Health

At 6 p.m. Sept. 7, sample cuisine and cocktails from more than 30 of the Toledo area’s top restaurants, all to benefit efforts to remove the stigma from mental health issues and raise funds to treat them. The event, held in conjunction with Harbor Behavioral Health, is in reponse to a Community Health Needs Assessment conducted at ProMedica hospitals that ranked psychiatric concerns as one of this area’s three most significant health issues.
