All-Steinway Piano Gala set at UT

This weekend the University of Toledo Department of Music presents its second annual All-Steinway Piano Gala. Guests, faculty, alumni, and students will perform a variety of solo, duo, and quartet pieces celebrating the instrument.

This year’s performers include Frances Renzi, Michael Boyd, Heidi Clausius, Beth Csortos, Karen Tank, Tad Weed, Phil Clark, Andreea Lee, Nathanael Leonard, and Grace Mauk. Featured works include Dukas’ The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Bolcom’s The Serpent’s Kiss, Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker, and music of Mozart Piazzolla, Ellington, and Sousa.

The concert, second in this year’s Dorothy MacKenzie Price Piano Series, begins at 3 p.m. Sunday at the University of Toledo Center for Performing Arts Recital Hall, 1901 West Rocket Drive; park in Lot 12. Tickets $25 available at 419-530-2448.

■ The Ballet Theatre of Toledo is the subject of the latest documentary in the series of Toledo Stories created by WGTE. Beyond the Ballet Barre follows the ensemble through its 12 th season behind the scenes in rehearsal and performance. Featured are interviews with artistic directors Nigel Burgoine and Anne Marie Getz, and former student Spencer Hack, a professional dancer with the National Ballet of Canada.
