Toledo police have identified a city man shot early Saturday in North Toledo.

Officers responded about 2:57 a.m. to a person shot at 3257 Stickney Ave. They found Thomas Clayborne suffering from one gunshot wound.

Authorities said Mr. Clayborne was attending a small gathering of family and friends inside what appears to be a private club. As he walked out the front door, an unidentified man tried to enter, and the gunman shot him during an ensuing argument, police said.

Mr. Clayborne was taken to Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center for a wound police said did not appear life-threatening. A hospital spokesman said Monday no information was available regarding Mr. Clayborne.

There have been 28 people shot, including nine fatally, this year in Toledo, according to a Blade review of police records.
