Police investigate city's latest homicide in South Toledo

Toledo Police are investigating a homicide that occurred early Sunday morning. 

According to a media release, police were dispatched to the 100 block of Emery Street in South Toledo around 2 a.m.

They found the victim, Johnny Willet, 29, suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mr. Willet is the 30th homicide victim in the city of Toledo this year. 

Breana Chaney said he was her husband’s best friend.

“He died in my arms last night,” she said. “He was a good man.”

They often played dominoes together in their front yard, she said, describing him as a man who never fought or argued with anyone.

The police have encouraged anyone with information to call Crimestoppers, at 419-255-1111.
