Toledo police arrested a man Wednesday accused of driving a vehicle involved in a cross-fire shooting.

Quincy Holmes, 24, of the 1300 block of Western Avenue, is charged with discharge of a firearm over a public road and improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle. A Toledo Municipal Court judge released him Thursday on his own recognizance.

Officers responded to gunshots at about 2:19 p.m. Wednesday in the area of Dryden Drive and Lewis Avenue. Witnesses said gunmen in two vehicles fired several rounds at each other as the cars traveled at a high speed, according to police.

Bullets struck at least one parked car and a house. No injuries were reported.

Nearby Whittier Elementary School went on lockdown for about 40 minutes Wednesday as a precaution.
