Troopers find $5,000 worth of marijuana in Lucas County traffic stop

A Fremont man was charged with drug-related offenses Tuesday after troopers found nearly $5,000 worth of marijuana in his car during a traffic stop on I-475, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Ryan Scheerer, 43, is charged with trafficking in marijuana, a fourth-degree felony, and possession of marijuana, a fifth-degree felony.

Troopers stopped the vehicle for a violation of following too close on I-475 in Lucas County.

A drug-sniffing canine alerted to the vehicle, and during a search of the car, troopers found nearly 500 grams of marijuana, according to the patrol.
