CLYDE — A body was found inside a house that caught fire Tuesday on West McPherson Highway, west of Clyde, according to the Sandusky County Sheriff’s Office.

Crews responded to the blaze shortly after 9 a.m. Tuesday in the 1700 block of West McPherson Highway, the sheriff’s office said in a media release.

Due to the intensity of the fire, crews did not initially enter the structure. Firefighters from the Clyde Fire Department extinguished the fire, and detectives from the State Fire Marshal and sheriff’s office entered the home, where they found one person dead.

No positive identification of the victim was able to be made at the scene, deputies said.

An autopsy will be completed by the Lucas County Coroner’s Office to determine the cause of death.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
