    The Islamic Center of Greater Toledo will host a blood drive on Sunday, in response to the mass shooting at a Las Vegas concert. The public is invited to donate through the Red Cross between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the mosque, 25877 Scheider Rd., Perrysburg.

    “We, at the Islamic Center of Greater Toledo, send our sincere thoughts of great sorrow and sadness to the families and friends of the victims of the dreadful massacre in Las Vegas,” the community said in a statement. “We stand in solidarity with the rest of America in offering our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the people affected by this senseless attack.”

    Jewish arts festival

    Temple Shomer Emunim will host a Fall Festival of the Arts, featuring the work of 32 local artists, between 11:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Sunday. Each participating artist is Jewish, but the works, which span a wide variety of media and will be available for purchase, is not all Jewish in nature.

    The festival is sponsored by the Jewish Federation of Greater Toledo, Toledo Jewish Community Foundation, Huntington Bank, and Buckeye’s Telesystem. Other event highlights will include a “kids korner” between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.; an auction benefiting the Victory Center, and a kosher food truck from Chicago. The venue is at 6453 W. Sylvania Ave., Sylvania.

    N.C. musician

    Christ Presbyterian Church will welcome David LaMotte, a North Carolina-based musician, author, and speaker, on Saturday. Mr. LaMotte will perform in two concerts, at 11:30 a.m. and 6 p.m., and host two workshops, “Worldchanging 101,” at 1 and 3 p.m.

    The workshops and concerts and free and open to the public. A $5 donation is requested for lunch, at 12:15 p.m., and a $10 donation is requested for dinner at 5 p.m. Christ Presbyterian is at 4225 W Sylvania Ave. For more information, call the church at 419-475-8629.

    Reformation concerts

    The Toledo Symphony Orchestra will commemorate of the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation in two upcoming concerts. It will perform movements from Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 5 “Reformation,” as well as other selections, at St. Michael the Archangel Church in Findlay on Oct. 12 and at Corpus Christi University Parish in Toledo on Oct. 19.

    ‘Guns to Gardens’

    A blacksmith will fashion a garden tool from a firearm linked to a crime in the community at “Guns to Gardens,” an Oct. 14 event to be held at the Hindu Temple of Toledo, 4336 King Rd., Sylvania. The free event is organized in part by the Toledo Mennonite Church and will feature Hindu and Mennonite hymns, statements from area police chiefs, and light refreshments between 10 a.m. and noon.     Right to Life dinner

    Pam Tebow will be the keynote speaker at Tiffin Right to Life’s Celebrate Life Dinner on Nov. 4. Ms. Tebow is invited as a Christian missionary, anti-abortion advocate, and mother of five, including Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow.

    A $40 ticket will cover a catered meal, silent auction, raffle, and live music between 6 and 10 p.m. at the St. Joseph Activity Center, 36 Melmore St., Tiffin.
