The University of Toledo football team travels to Ohio on Wednesday for a tricky game against the Bobcats, who sit tied for the lead in the Mid-American Conference East division. Here are three things to watch for in the game:
1) Can Toledo stay balanced on offense?: The Rockets have been on a roll lately offensively and they are mixing the pass and the run very well. The running game behind Terry Swanson as well as Art Thompkins and Shakif Seymour is clicking lately as the Rockets are second-best at team rushing in MAC play at 248.8 yards. Quarterback Logan Woodside has been spreading the ball all over the field and leads the conference in passing at 295.1 yards per game. If Toledo can get that balance, the offense will be tough to slow down.
2) Can Toledo contain Nathan Rourke?: Rourke has been lighting up the scoreboard lately for the Bobcats. The sophomore quarterback is dangerous passing and running and is coming off a three-passing and three-rushing touchdown performance against Miami. Rourke already has 16 rushing touchdowns on the season. Keeping Rourke in the pocket will be a point of emphasis for the Rockets defense.
3) The kicking game: Toledo and Ohio have two of the best kickers in the league in Jameson Vest and Louie Zervos. Vest (10.3 per game) and Zervos (8.6 per game) are first and sec ond respectively in points among kickers and both rank near the top of the MAC in field goals per game. In what could be a close game, a kick here or there could be the difference.
