Junior guard Jaelan Sanford has been named Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week for the first time in his Toledo career, the league announced today.
Sanford set career highs with 31 points and eight assists with no turnovers on Saturday, helping Toledo to a 98-87 win over Saint Joseph's in the season opener for both teams.
The Evansville, Ind. native was extremely efficient in the contest, hitting 11-of-16 shots (4-of-6 from 3-point range), and sinking 5-of-6 free throws in 39 minutes.
The Rockets (1-0) are back in action Tuesday night at home vs. NCAA Division III foe Ohio Northern at 7 p.m.
