The Toledo Walleye announced the signing of massive forward Ben Storm on Tuesday.

Storm, a towering 6-foot-7 and 230-pound forward, played for the ECHL champion Colorado Eagles last season.

In 69 regular-season games as a rookie with the Eagles, the Laurium, Mich. native tallied eight goals with 19 assists. He also racked up 140 penalty minutes for the Kelly Cup champions.

He appeared in seven contests for the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League, registering zero points.

“Storm is a big body that showed last year playing in Colorado that he can succeed at this level,” Walleye coach Dan Watson said. “We look forward to continuing his development into a strong forward.”

Storm was drafted by the Colorado Avalanche in the sixth round of the 2013 NHL draft. He played four seasons at St. Cloud State University, where in 121 games he produced four goals with 13 assists and 72 penalty minutes playing mostly as a defenseman. The 24-year-old was captain of the Huskies in his senior season (2016-17) in which he collected 29 penalty minutes in 29 games.
