The Foltz family conducts the Sundae Stroll 5k in honor of Cheryl Foltz, who died of pancreatic cancer in 2012. The walk raises money for pancreatic cancer research.

  • On June 23, join in the fight against pancreatic cancer at the 6th annual Sundae Stroll, a 5k walk/run hosted by the Sundae Station, 1240 W. Wooster St., Bowling Green. It is held in memory of Cheryl Foltz, who passed away in 2012 and whose family owns the ice cream shop.

Registration begins at 8 a.m., with the stroll starting at 9:10 a.m. Each participant will receive a cotton T-shirt, fruit and other healthy snacks, water, and a special Life-Saving Sundae topped with Passionately Purple sprinkles, the color for pancreatic cancer awareness.

The cost to participate is $30 per adult walker/runner and $15 for those 12 and under. All proceeds will be given to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. Sponsorships are available, and donations for participant gift bags are needed.

For more information and to register, go to sundaestroll5k.com.

    Vistula Foundation holds Solstice Tea

It’s time for the 4th annual Summer Solstice Garden Tea at the Victorian-era Matthew Brown House, 1107 North Superior St., hosted by the Historic Vistula Foundation. Guests will sip hot and iced teas as they dine in the garden using antique china and silver. They’ll enjoy an assortment of savories (including asiago-filled phyllo triangles and curried chicken salad sandwiches), scones, and several sweets in addition to Black Kite Coffee and Pies’ Cini Minis.

The cost is $30 per person, with proceeds benefiting the preservation and enhancement of Toledo’s first neighborhood. Ladies are encouraged to wear hats.

    Seatings will be at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. Saturday. To make reservations, call Richard Martinez at 419-266-8039.

    Greek lunches
at Holy Trinity

It’s a sure sign of summer when Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 740 Superior St., begins serving its monthly luncheons.

The meals will be offered from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays (rather than on Thursdays, as in the past).

The menus are chicken oregano, rice pilaf, and Greek-style green beans on June 20; beef or chicken gyros on pita bread with fries on July 11, and a platter of tiropita (cheese pie), pastichio (Greek lasagna), and dolmathes (stuffed grape leaves) on Aug. 8.

Meals cost $9 and include salad, bread, and coffee or iced tea. You can dine in or take out. Greek pastries, sodas, and bottled water will be on sale. For more information, go to holytrinitytoledo.com/greek-luncheons-are-back-for-2018 or call 419-243-918.
