Travis Tritt, drag racing headline Fulton County Fair

    Country music star Travis Tritt will perform on Labor Day at the Fulton County Fair.

    • The Fulton County Fair, one of northwest Ohio’s biggest county fairs, begins Friday and continues through Sept. 7.

    The headliner is Grammy-winning country star Travis Tritt, who performs on Labor Day. Loverboy and Survivor, two popular ‘80s groups, perform Sunday. Tickets for each are $19 to $27.

    A new feature this year is KOI drag racing, which will be Wednesday. National Tractor Pullers Association-sanctioned tractor and truck pulls are Friday, and a demolition derby is Sept. 7. Cost for each are $8 to $10.

    The fair is at 8514 State Rt. 108, Wauseon, 40 miles west of Toledo and a quarter-mile north of Exit 34 on the Ohio Turnpike. It is open until 10 p.m., with variable starting times. The midway opens at 5 p.m. Saturday and operates noon to close through Wednesday.

    General admission is $5 per person. Children 15 and younger are admitted free of charge when accompanied by an adult. Parking is free. For information, go to fultoncountyfair.com.

    ■ The Rooftop Comedy show at 8 p.m. Thursday at Fleetwood's Tap Room, 28 N. St. Clair St., features Melanie Hearn, a Detroit-area comedian who won the “Jumpstart Your Comedy Career Contest” at Joey’s Comedy Shop and the “Big Money Contest” at Laff Tracks Comedy Club. She also was a semi-finalist in the LA Comedy Express Competition at Mark Ridley's Comedy Castle. The lineup is rounded out with comedians Bryan Thompson, Rahm Kely, Holly Comer, Adam Gilbert, Isiah Gray, and emcee Keith Bergman. There is no admission charge.     ■ The final screening in the Toledo Museum of Art’s Films in the Great Outdoors series is Terry Gilliam’s 1981 fantasy, Time Bandits, starring Sean Connery and John Cleese. The film will be shown at 9 p.m. Friday at the museum, 2445 Monroe St. The film series has been held in conjunction with the museum exhibition, The Berlin Painter and His World, which ends Oct. 1.

    ■ The fourth annual Adams Street Block Party is from 4 p.m. Sunday to 1 a.m. Monday. The event is free and open to all ages until 10 p.m., at which point it’ll be only for people ages 21 and older.

    A purchase of a $5 wristband is required for entry into participating bars. Lots of art and entertainment is planned, including a water fun activity area with a dunk tank featuring area politicians. There also will be a water balloon fight, giant water pong, live music, and specials offered by local businesses, restaurants, and pubs. Wesley’s Bar & Grill is hosting a Summer Luau Party, featuring a Hawaiian-themed cookout, drinks, and DJs.
