Two Toledo attractions were named the best attractions in the state by USA Today readers.

The Toledo Museum of Art edged out the National Museum of the Great Lakes and Cedar Point — the second and third finishers respectively — in the reader's choice contest.

In July, independent travel writers nominated 20 attractions in the state of Ohio to participate in the online voting contest. For 29 days, readers of USA Today voted for their choice of Ohio’s top attraction, according to a news release posted on the Great Lakes museum website.

Christopher Gillcrist, the Great Lakes' executive director, said the museum is proud to be picked as a favorite in the contest and for Toledo to have the top two spots.

"It is our hope that more people are beginning to recognize Toledo as a cultural destination city. I think this contest confirms what a lot of people in northwest Ohio already knew,” he said.

The top 10 attractions in Ohio selected by voters are as follows:

1. Toledo Museum of Art

2. National Museum of the Great Lakes

3. Cedar Point

4. Amish Country

5. Hocking Hills State Park

6. Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens

7. Put-in-Bay

8. Franklin Park Conservatory

9. Cleveland Museum of Art

10. Cincinnati Museum Center
