Three mosquito pools in Lucas County have tested positive for West Nile Virus, local health and sanitation officials said.

The samples were collected in early June in Toledo, Maumee, and Springfield Township, according to information released by the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department and Toledo Area Sanitary District.

West Nile was confirmed by the Ohio Department of Health on Tuesday. The Toledo Area Sanitary District will increase spraying near the pools that tested positive over the next several days and will continue to monitor mosquito populations for the virus.
