Felonious assault charges were dismissed Tuesday against two Toledo men arrested for a North Toledo shooting.

Dexter Phillips, an assistant county prosecutor, asked Lucas County Common Pleas Judge James Bates to drop the charges against Quinta Caldwell, 30, and Wardell Barnes, 34. The two men, he said, initially were identified as the assailants who shot William Brown in the groin July 29 near Worley Place and Manhattan Avenue. He added Mr. Brown later told investigators he didn't know who shot him.
