A North Toledo couple was indicted by a Lucas County grand jury Friday on sexual assault allegations involving a then 12-year-old girl.
Stanley Braswell, 39, and Chanel Flynn, 39, who both had a last known address at a residence in the 400 block of Lapier Street, are each charged in connection to the assault of the girl from incidents allegedly occurring between August, 2015 and January, 2019, according to Patti Wardrop, the assistant county prosecutor who oversees the child victim unit.
Mr. Braswell was indicted on three counts of rape for having sex with the girl and impregnating her in May, 2016, Ms. Wardrop said.
Ms. Flynn allegedly knew of the assaults, but failed to act to protect the girl, the prosecutor said.
“Any time that a child is pregnant at age 12 is a risk of serious physical harm,” Ms. Wardrop said regarding Ms. Flynn’s charges.
Charges against Mr. Braswell were filed in Toledo Municipal Court on March 18 after the girl disclosed information about the assaults in January, according to the prosecutor. The U.S. Marshals Service Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force and Toledo police last week asked for assistance locating him.
He was arrested March 22 in the 800 block of East Bancroft Street.
