Heidelberg University presents programs on sex-trafficking issues

TIFFIN — Heidelberg University in Tiffin is hosting a series of presentations on human trafficking, including a talk from a survivor who now assists rescued victims and families and educates the community.

Aaron Brown, national director of operations for Destiny Rescue, will kick off Human Trafficking Awareness Week at the university at 6 p.m. Jan. 22 in Wickham Great Hall. Destiny Rescue works to rescue children from the sex trade.

On Jan. 23 the film BuyCott — Ending Human Trafficking will be screened at 6 p.m. in the university commons.

Ann Marie Babb, vice president of business operations for the We Care So We’re There Center in southwestern Ohio, will share her story as a 10-year survivor of human trafficking at 6 p.m. Jan. 24 in Wickham Great Hall. The center has a safe house for women who have been rescued and helps in other ways.

‘Lily’s Shadow,’ a one-act play performed by the Bowling Green High School Drama Club, is set for 6 p.m. Jan. 25 in Gundlach Theatre. The play is geared toward middle and high school students.

All events are free and open to the public.
