Police ID driver in fatal South Toledo crash

Toledo police have identified the driver who was killed after a vehicle struck a utility pole in South Toledo.

Gloria Britt, 63, of the 200 block of Jervis Street, was traveling northbound on Broadway Street toward South Avenue just after 8 p.m. Thursday, according to police.

Ms. Britt ran a red light at South Avenue, swerved to avoid another vehicle, and struck a utility pole just north of the intersection, police reported. 

Ms. Britt was transported to the University of Toledo Medical Center, formerly the Medical College of Ohio Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police reported. 

Police continue to investigate.
