Voters decided on a variety of other tax issues on the ballot Tuesday night.
A 10-year tax levy renewal for Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority was headed toward approval by the end of election night with 24,156 votes in favor and 12,191 votes against in Lucas County, and 706 votes in favor and 476 votes against in Wood County.
Without renewal, the 1-mill levy would expire at the end of 2020. The levy now generates about $5.3 million annually for the transit authority, and a renewal means that the tax paid by individual property owners would not change.
Voters approved a 1.9 mill property tax levy for the Way Public Library in Perrysburg, with 2,794 votes in favor of the levy and 693 votes against. Approximately 1,200 absentee ballots are outstanding in Wood County, according to county board of elections officials.
An Oregon City Schools operations levy appeared poised for defeat with 2,119 votes against and 1,630 votes in favor. The 4.95 mill levy which would cost homeowners $173 per year on a $100,000 home.
The village of Swanton unofficially approved a 1.2 mill park levy on the ballot with 247 votes in favor and 163 votes against in Fulton County, and seven votes in favor and three votes against in Lucas County. The levy would generate $80,000 per year for Swanton Village parks and would cost homeowners $7 per year on a $100,000 home.
Also in Fulton County, a property tax levy for Pettisville Local Schools ended Tuesday night down at the ballot with 471 votes against and 166 votes in favor. The levy is a 3.5 mill permanent improvement levy that would cost homeowners $122.50 per year on a $100,000 home.
According to the Fulton County Board of Elections, 326 absentee ballots are still outstanding.
Clyde-Green Springs Exempted Village School District also tentatively passed a 0.5 percent income tax increase with 1,214 votes in favor and 1,130 votes against. Based on an individual income of $25,000 per year, the levy would cost a taxpayer $125 annually. The number of outstanding absentee ballots in Sandusky County was not immediately available.
Tuesday's elections results are unofficial and could change once results are certified three weeks after election day. Absentee ballots postmarked by Monday but not received on Tuesday must reach the board of elections by May 8 to be counted.
