A South Toledo woman is accused of assaulting four people, including a Toledo police officer, and possessing marijuana, according to police.

Victoria A. Brownfield, 31, of the 2500 block of Moffat Road, is charged with assault on a police officer, a fourth-degree felony; three counts of assault, all first-degree misdemeanors; drug paraphernalia, a fourth-degree misdemeanor, and drug abuse, a minor misdemeanor.

She appeared Thursday in Toledo Municipal Court, where bond was set at $25,000 at no percent.

Officer Nicole Crissman responded to a disorder at Ms. Brownfield’s apartment at about 8:35 p.m. Wednesday. When she arrived, she found Ms. Brownfield in a common hallway, where she was allegedly assaulting three victims — identified as James Meredith, Mikyla Keck, and Shawn Brummett. The three were trying to restrain Ms. Brownfield, police reported.

She is accused of scratching, smacking, and pushing Mr. Meredith and Mr. Brummett, according to court documents.

Ms. Brownfield is also accused of grabbing Mikyla Keck by the hair, pulling her shirt, and choking her, court documents show.

Officer Crissman attempted to take Ms. Brownfield into custody when Ms. Brownfield then began assaulting the officer, police said.

Ms. Brownfield is accused of throwing the officer on her back, climbing on top of the officer and striking her with closed fists in the chest, court documents show.

Ms. Brownfield allegedly began to choke the officer and then grabbed her by the hair and smashed her head into the ground, according to court documents.

Ms. Brownfield was then taken into custody with assistance of the other involved parties, police said.

Additionally, Officer Crissman located a marijuana pipe and a small bag of marijuana in plain sight on Ms. Brownfield’s bedroom nightstand, according to court documents.

Officer Crissman sustained minor scrapes, but she was not injured, police reported.  Both Mr. Meredith and Ms. Keck were evaluated at the scene by the Toledo Fire and Rescue Department. Mr. Brummett was not injured.

Ms. Brownfield was held in Officer Crissman’s cruiser before she was taken to Mercy Health St. Charles Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation. The cruiser was later found to be contaminated with fecal matter and vomit, police reported.

Ms. Brownfield was booked in the Lucas County jail at about 5:30 a.m. Thursday.
