To the editor: Noe does not deserve leniency

2/5/2018

Reading the Jim Provance article on a penitent Tom Noe (Feb. 1, “Convicted thief Noe again pleads to leave prison”) was sickening.

Noe is so sorry for the destruction he did to so many people (people whom he will likely never meet face-to-face). His most serious crime was the undermining of the election process that helped another small man win the presidency. People are anxious to assist him in leaving prison so they can tap into his secret off-shore accounts that have to be huge.

Also, let us remember that most of those complicit in his various crimes were never charged.

Mueller probe not without merit

The Blade routinely prints letters by readers upset at the Mueller investigation into Russian interference in the American election process. The Feb. 1 letter, “End the Russian probe” is one of the latest.

The writer is “sick of hearing nothing but Russia while receiving no tangible proof that any wrongdoing has occurred.” For his and the benefit of the thousands others like him, let’s take a quick trip down memory lane.

Mr. Trump revealed highly classified information to the Russian foreign minister in a White House meeting. Mr. Trump’s son and son-in--law met at Trump Tower with Russians to get “dirt” on Hillary Clinton. Mr. Trump helped his son write a memo which lied about the meeting’s intent. Mr. Trump told a news reporter he fired FBI Director James Comey because of “the Russia thing.” Michael Flynn, Mr. Trump’s former National Security Advisor, who Mr. Trump routinely defended, pled guilty to receiving payments from Russians. Jared Kushner tried to establish secret communications with Russians that would bypass U.S. intelligence agencies. Social media sites have admitted and demonstrated how Russian operatives used the sites to sway readers against Clinton. Mr. Trump just recently refused to continue sanctions against Russia, even though over 98 percent of Congress, Republican and Democrats, approved the sanctions.

These examples are common knowledge. There are many others.
