Readers who have registered on toledoblade.com are able to comment on stories.

Q: How do I register?

A: Readers can register by clicking on the link for doing so at the top of the toledoblade.com website. Also, users are prompted to login/register, if they haven't already, when they try to post a comment on a story. Subscribers online or in print also must register to comment.

Q: Do I need to have a Facebook account to comment?

A: No. The Blade’s former registration process for commenters, which required a Facebook account, has been disabled. Now readers can register using social media or an email.

Q: Will The Blade monitor comments?

A: Yes, Blade web editors monitor comments 24/7, looking to make sure comments do not violate our user guidelines. Comments are removed that violate those guidelines, including use of profanity, personal attacks on other commenters, or failure to use your real first and last name. Web editors do not remove comments or ban users because they may disagree with a comment; such actions are based on our guidelines, not on a web editor's personal views.

Q: If I have a comment removed, does that block me from making further comments?

A: No, but persistent times when comments from the same user are removed could subject that reader to being banned. Also, a single egregious comment could result in that user being banned.
