    Bowling Green at Akron

    ■ Notes: The Falcons look to improve to 2-0 in league road games when they take on the Zips. … BG beat Akron 66-65 at the Stroh Center on Feb. 21 last season to snap a 17-game losing streak to the Zips. … The Falcons have not won at JAR Arena since March 1, 2009, having lost their past eight games there. … The Zips were picked to finish fourth in the MAC East. … Last year, Akron finished 27-9 and won the MAC’s regular-season title with a 14-4 mark. The Zips beat Houston in the first round of the NIT last year before losing at Texas-Arlington. … Sophomore Daniel Utomi, one of the few returnees from last season, leads Akron with 18.1 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. … The Zips rank fourth in the MAC in 3-pointers made (146) and second in 3-point shooting (37.8 percent). … In Bowling Green’s first three MAC games, Springfield High graduate Demajeo Wiggins is averaging 16.0 points and 10.3 rebounds.     ■ Notes: Toledo is coming off an 84-61 home win against Western Michigan on Tuesday. Tre’Shaun Fletcher led the Rockets in that game with 21 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists. Fletcher is the only player in the MAC in the top 10 in points, rebounds, and assists. He averages 18.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game. … Junior Jaelan Sanford needs 14 points to reach 1,000 for his career. … Marreon Jackson is second in the MAC in 3-point percentage at 46.6 percent. Luke Knapke is tied for second in the MAC with 1.6 blocked shots per game. … Toledo leads the MAC in 3-point percentage (40.6 percent) and 3-point field goals per game (9.8). … CMU is 8-0 at home this season. … The Chippewas have lost at Kent State and Eastern Michigan. … Cecil Williams leads Central Michigan in scoring at 14.9 points per game and is second in rebounding at 6.8 per game. … The Chippewas lead the nation in free-throw shooting at 81.8 percent.

    ■ Notes: Two teams searching for their first league victory this season meet. BG has won the past two games between these two teams, but five of Akron’s seven wins in this series have come since 2013 after the Falcons had won 19 straight. … Bowling Green began the series by winning the first 26. … Akron was picked to finish last in the East Division after returning three starters from last year’s team, which posted a 9-21 overall record and 2-16 mark in the MAC. … This season the Zips are led by Megan Sefcik, who did not play in Wednesday’s loss to Buffalo. Sefcik averages 13.4 points per game and has made 47 3-pointers. … While BG is 4-4 on the road this season, the Falcons have lost four consecutive away from home, last winning Nov. 25 at Florida Atlantic. … The Bowling Green bench has been productive in the past three games, scoring 21 points against Eastern Michigan, 31 versus Ball State, and 27 at Central Michigan. Those are the team’s best bench totals this season. … Starting Wednesday against Kent State, the Falcons will play three of their next four and five of their next seven at the Stroh Center.

In that game, Mikaela Boyd scored 17 points, grabbed a career-high 19 rebounds, and had eight assists. … Coach Tricia Cullop is 66-16 in home conference games in nine-plus years at Toledo. … Kaayla McIntyre leads the Rockets at 14.9 points per game. Jay-Ann Bravo-Harriott and Boyd add 12.0 and 10.6 points per game, respectively. … NIU has lost three of its past five games, and fell 88-83 at Western Michigan on Wednesday. … The Huskies are 5-5 on the road this season. … Courtney Woods is second in the MAC in scoring at 20.6 points per game. Kelly Smith adds 16.0 points per game. … These teams split their regular-season matchups last season, with the road team winning each. Toledo then topped NIU 82-71 in the MAC championship game.
