Toledo's Colin Martin, left and Kalamazoo's Jon Jutzi look over to the puck during a game this season at the Huntington Center. The Walleye have traded Martin to Brampton.

The Walleye traded forward Colin Martin to the Brampton Beast for future considerations.

Martin, a 26-year-old from London, Ontario, started the season on the injured reserve list and played in just one game. He scored a goal in Toledo's 5-2 home win Saturday against Kalamazoo.

Martin played in 47 games for Utah last season as a rookie and finished with 22 goals with 11 assists.

The move was necessary after the return of veteran forward Kyle Bonis, who had been called up to Iowa of the American Hockey League. The reassignment left Toledo with 13 forwards.

Coach Dan Watson said the trade was simply a numbers game with not enough ice time to go around.

The Walleye play a home-and-home series against Wheeling this weekend. They play in West Virginia on Friday night before hosting the Nailers at the Huntington Center at 7:15 p.m. Saturday.
