WHEELING, W.Va. — Reid Gardner scored his second goal of the game with 1 minute, 48 seconds left in overtime Friday as the Wheeling Nailers beat the Toledo Walleye 4-3.
The Walleye (6-2-2) trailed 2-0 and 3-1 in the third period, but forced the extra period on goals by Connor Crisp and Kevin Tansey just 1:06 apart late in regulation. Tansey’s goal tied it with 1:25 to go.
The Walleye return to the Huntington Center to face Wheeling at 7:15 p.m. Saturday. All fans will be subject to increased security measures, including a walk-through screening and bag check.
