Walleye re-sign defenseman Kevin Lohan

The Toledo Walleye on Friday re-signed Kevin Lohan, a 6-foot-5, 220-pound defenseman who played six games with the team last season.

Lohan joined the Walleye at the end of the regular season after completing his college career at Boston College. Lohan collected three assists and had a plus-minus rating of plus-six for Toledo. He played in one game during the team’s playoff run.

The native of Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y., began his college career at the University of Michigan. He appeared in 64 games for the Wolverines and tallied two goals, nine assists, and 34 penalty minutes.

The defenseman played as a graduate student this past season for Boston College. He posted two goals, six assists, and 10 penalty minutes and was a plus-14 in 22 games for the Eagles.

“We are excited to have such a steady defenseman like Kevin back on our blue line,” Walleye coach Dan Watson said. “In limited time at the end of last year we saw what he can do and that experience will be valuable to him coming into his first full pro season.”

Lohan battled through injuries his entire college career. He missed parts of his every season at UM.

The 24-year-old received a medical redshirt for the 2015-16 season when he skated in just two games for Michigan, allowing him to play a grad year at Boston College. He played in a total of 86 games in his college career and produced four goals, 15 assists, and 44 penalty minutes, and was a plus-31.

Lohan was an assistant captain as a senior last season. He has played for two of the sport's legendary coaches, Michigan's Red Berenson and BC's Jerry York.
